Super Red Worms, are also known as European nightcrawlers, California Super Red Worm and Japanese Tiger Worm. You will see some web sites refer to Super Red Worms as African Nightcrawlers

Raised primarily by some for fishing as they stay alive for 30 minutes under water, can survive in brackish waters and are hardy on the hook. Super red worms are also raised for their worm castings. Super Red Worms castings can be applied directly to your plants or brewed as a worm tea and sprayed to apply to your plants.

Super Red Worms are one of the hardiest worms and easiest to raise as well as offer another benefit over some of the other composting worms. They make an excellent fishing worm with an average length span of a mature worm ranging between 3 to 5 inches. If raised correctly and fed a grain mix such as Purina Worm Chow, they have the ability to become thicker than a number 2 pencil and grow up to 6 inches in length.

Super Red Worms are tolerant of cooler weather and can withstand temperatures of 80 degrees Fahrenheit or so. They prefer beddings of newspaper, peat moss and cardboard. These worms will wander a little more than some of the other composting worms, however pound for pound they cannot be beat!
